According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Hassan Babangida Hassan has been arrested for alleged criminal conspiracy, employment scam, and forgery.
On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, he was arrested in Kano on suspicion of making false claims about being an employment agency that could secure jobs for applicants in various ministries and parastatals. He allegedly defrauded an applicant, Usman Rilwan, of N14,950, 000 (Fourteen Million, Nine Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira), under the guise of finding him a paid job.
Rilwan claimed he paid the suspect the money as a “facilitation fee” in order for the job offer to be “processed.” Hassan allegedly gave his victim an appointment letter, which was later discovered to be a forgery.
