While reading a thread on Nairaland, an unsuspecting individual met a Nairalander with the username “Yemex001.”
“Yemex001” claims to work for KS Ventures, whose headquarters is located at “block 4, vintage estate, Lekki-Ajah Road, Lagos state.” “Yemex001” claimed to sell a heat conversion machine, which is primarily used by Port Harcourt’s frozen food vendors.
The victim contacted him in order to obtain one, and “Yemex001” proposed that the victim pay-on delivery.
The victim proceeded to place an order, only for “Yemex001,” to give reasons for why the victim had to pay a part of the money before the device was delivered.
The victim paid N30,000 naira out to N52,000 and was to balance up when the machine was delivered. “Yemex001” promised to come with his crew to install the device.
Two days later, “Yemex001” contacted the victim, claiming that management had stated that the part payment should have been N40,000 naira rather than N30,000 naira, and the victim was dissatisfied with the new development but because he had already paid N30,000, the victim went ahead to pay an additional N10,000 naira.
“Yemex001” sent the victim some numbers, which were the serial number of the device he paid for, and on the scheduled delivery date he called the victim and explained why the device had not been delivered as promised; the victim felt betrayed and suspected that he was lying during their conversations.
The victim requested a refund from “Yemex001,” who stated that it would be processed within 24 hours. To make matters worse, “Yemex001” no longer returns the victim’s calls.
No item has been delivered to the victim, and no refund has been issued.
