An Ibadan-based nurse has described how Zedekiah Train, an investment platform, duped her out of N500,000 naira.
The nurse described how she fell into Zedekiah Train’s web by stumbling across an advertisement on Pastor Godswill, a popular Ibadan pastor’s Facebook page in September 2022.
Zedekiah Train boasted in the advertisement that those who invested with them would receive a 21% interest rate.
She expressed reservations about the investment but reassured herself that everything would be fine because a pastor posted the message.
The nurse contacted Zedekiah Train after seeing the advertisement and was responded to, but when she messaged the admin on WhatsApp, she discovered the company’s name was Hyfex Capital, not Zedekiah Train.
The admin also sent a link to a recorded video conference in which he explained the nature of the investment.
The administrator then inquired as to how much she intended to invest.
“Immediately after the nurse told the admin of the Zedekiah Train investment platform that she had N500,000 naira to invest, the admin gave the nurse an account number to pay into, which she did on October 1. After she paid, the administrator sent me a memorandum of understanding, which both parties signed.”
The nurse and Zedekiah Train agreed that the company would credit the nurse with 21 percent interest on January 1 but then reneged.
She stated that she reminded the company of her investment on December 29 but received no response.
This prompted the nurse to contact the company via email. In response, the company asked her to wait without providing a specific date.
The nurse decided to wait for Zedekiah Train until March without communicating with them, but they did not contact her. As a result, she was forced to contact them via mail, but she received no response.
The nurse sent them another email a few days later, but they received no response. This was the point at which she needed to look up Pastor Godwill’s email address and phone number.
She emailed him, expressing her disappointment, but received no response.
A source called Zedekiah Train several times, but their line was always turned off. At the time of publication, the company had not responded to the text message sent to them.
Pastor Godswill was also called, but his phone line was never connected. He also did not respond after nine days to a text message or an Instagram message sent to him.
