This event happened on the 22nd of January 2021. I wanted to buy a Toyota Camry 2013 model for a client who had a budget of 4M. After searching different platforms, I came across a red Camry 2012 model. I called the owner and spoke briefly with her(Madam). She later reached out to me that the Camry has been sold but she has another one at Berger. We discussed a 3.8M fee even if it is a 2011 or 2012 model and told me to head to Mile 2 and meet her boy, Ife(07039281760) waiting for me at her office. I got there and Ife directed me to the Camry and it was super neat. My client told me to buy it for him after forwarding the pictures to him.
Ife told me that the car costs around 5.5M due to its grade and assured me not to worry that the car belongs to Madam and her husband and that she has spoken with her husband that I can make payment to her and she will sort it out. Meanwhile, unknowingly to me, Madam already told the actual car owners that I am just a mechanic that came to confirm the car & test drive it and that she is the one to pay.
After test driving the car, she sent me her account details and told me that once I have paid, I should send proof of payment as well as my full name and address for receipt :

Then I requested to see the man that owns the car for real. I saw and told him the entire story including the agreed fee. The man said that nobody spoke to him about any payment. That he was told that I was a mechanic coming to test drive the car and after the confirmation, Madam will request for the Owner’s account details and pay. So, the man advised me to do a video call with her and confirm things. I then called her on a video call, she declined and did a voice call. The owner took the phone from me and said “I thought you said he is your mechanic. Are you asking him to send you 3.7M for a car worth 5.5M? If you truly want to buy this car, send us the balance now, he will pay us the 3.M and go with the car.” Then at this point, she ended the call and deleted her account.
She later blocked me on WhatsApp and her boy, Ife said that he knows nothing about it. That the lady called him out of the blues and told him a mechanic was coming to check a car for her. Blah blah…
