A Facebook user recently shared her unfortunate experience of falling victim to a deceptive Facebook page known as Mrs. Veronica Trending Fashion Slippers and Sandals Company Management Limited, which falsely advertises fashionable footwear and fails to deliver.
The victim stumbled upon a post on Facebook Marketplace featuring a pair of sandals that caught her eye, posted by a page named Mrs. Veronica Trending Fashion Slippers and Sandals Company Management Limited.
Eager to make the purchase, she contacted the page and engaged in a conversation with the individual behind Mrs. Veronica Trending Fashion Slippers and Sandals Company Management Limited. The victim was then provided with a WhatsApp number to continue the transaction.
Negotiations with the handler of Mrs. Veronica Trending Fashion Slippers and Sandals Company Management Limited ensued, and the victim was informed that the sandals cost N5,000 with an additional delivery fee of N5,000. Initially, she was asked to make a partial payment of N2,500 for the sandals, with the remainder to be settled upon delivery by a dispatch rider.
However, as the transaction progressed, the handler abruptly demanded the full payment before delivery. Trusting the process, the victim complied, providing evidence of her payments as requested.
Shockingly, the handler of Mrs. Veronica Trending Fashion Slippers and Sandals Company Management Limited then informed the victim of an additional fee of N2,000 for a receipt, which was when she realized she had fallen victim to a scam.
To date, the victim has not received the ordered items, nor has she been refunded for her losses.
