Priscilla Ogu and Deborah Chukwu (pseudonyms), students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Lagos, have come forward to share their ordeal after paying N150,000 to Samuel Ajeibi in an attempt to secure on-campus hostel bed spaces, which ultimately proved unsuccessful.
The students revealed that they made the payment on November 20, 2023, seeking Ajeibi’s assistance after facing difficulties securing spaces in New Hall hostel on their own. Ajeibi assured them of a refund if he couldn’t deliver.
Two months later, Ajeibi informed them that he was working on the matter. Despite the students obtaining allocations in other hostels, Ajeibi has been unwilling to refund their money.
“He told us there would be no issue if we paid, and he was attending to those who paid him first,” said Ogu. “We paid and asked that he get us spaces in New Hall.”
Despite their efforts to secure their own allocations and informing Ajeibi that they no longer needed his services, he refused to refund the money.
A source attempted to contact Ajeibi, who initially responded, stating, “That’s one juicy story to tell, isn’t it?” When pressed for a response, he declined, saying, “Not at the moment. I can’t.”
Subsequent attempts to contact Ajeibi on Monday and Tuesday were unsuccessful.
