Whestwind Technology, an Instagram vendor that deals in the “sale of home appliances, gadgets, and furniture,” defrauded an unsuspecting customer of N48,000 naira.
The unsuspecting buyer saw a small deep freezer that he liked on the Whestwind Technology Instagram page and agreed to purchase it.
The handler of the Whestwind Technology Instagram page instructed the customer to make payment to an Opay account.
“After paying N48,000 and sending the receipt to the handler, the handler stopped responding to the victim’s messages and answering the victim’s phone calls.”
Further investigation reveals that Whestwind Technology was never a registered business or company with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Whoever is behind the page’s operation may have been defrauding people by impersonating Westwind Technologies Ltd., a duly registered Delta State company.
