An unsuspecting victim brought a report to the attention of scamexpress on how she got scammed by a fake online vendor named @funmiluxushair.
The victim came across the Instagram page when they were running promotion advertisements on a special sales promotion.
The Instagram handler of @funmiluxushair claim she is based in Lagos and can deliver to Abuja.
On the 21st of January 2023, the unsuspecting customer made contact with the handler of @funmiluxushair about her interest in her combo deal, to which the handler of the page responded that delivery was free to Abuja.
The victim also request a delivery timeline, and the handler of the Instagram replied in 4 working days.
The victim requested account details so she can make payments, which were given, the victim asked for the Instagram page refund/exchange policy, and the handler of the page responded with a voice note saying that the brand will refund her if the package didn’t get to customers as promised.
And if the customer gets the wrong package, the company will bear the delivery costs for the exchange.
After all the verifications and clarifications, the victim paid N20,500 naira in two payment transactions, N19,000 naira for the wigs and N1,500 naira for door delivery, and sent the transaction receipt to the handler of the Instagram page.
The handler of the page asked for delivery address details, and the victim responded with her detailed address and phone number.
In addition, the victim specifically stated that hopefully delivery will take place Friday (since payment was done on a Monday the delivery timeline is 4 working days so that makes Friday automatic) and the handler assured that it will.
On the 25th of January 2023, the victim followed up on her order and asked if it had been dispatched.
The handler of the page replied and said she will send the waybill details for pickup on Friday.
The victim asked for clarifications, and the handler of the page said she does not do home delivery, and that the victim has to pick the items up in ABC express cargo office around her area.
The victim wasn’t happy about the new development and asked the handler of the page, why did she ask for her delivery details, the handler of the page responded she did not intend to ask for her details, that she meant to ask for her location and name only and apologized for her mistake.
The victim even suggested that FedEx can pick up the items for her, which is what the victim prefers among all other delivery companies, but the handler said she worked from home so she can’t divulge her address but she is willing to help the victim deliver the items to the address but there will be an additional cost.
The victim didn’t mind, so she asked for the extra costs from the handler of the page and she replied N1,500 naira which the victim later paid.
On the 26th of January 2023, the victim prompted the handler of the page for feedback about the delivery, no response.
On the 27th of January 2023, the handler of the page replied and said she would like to do a refund in the morning of the next day. The victim told her to do the refund immediately so she can buy from another person.
From January 28th – 30th, 2023, the victim kept sending messages to the handler of the page, but she did not reply.
On the 4th of February 2023, the handler of the page responded and said she was not a scam page, and she was having issues with her bank.
To date, the handler of @funmiluxushair has refused to acknowledge the victim’s messages and kept mute, and refused to refund the victim’s money.
This lady is still scamming with confidence and running promos on her page. Why Ig has refused to suspend her page is beyond me. I too have been scammed over a month, no delivery, no refund, no reply, but she is taking orders.
