For Chigozie Eke, a resident of Imo State, the allure of earning millions by watching ads on the CashTube app turned out to be a costly mistake as he lost N5,500 without gaining any returns.
Eke, drawn in by the promises of cash rewards from the get-paid-for application, believed in its legitimacy, only to find himself out of pocket. According to him, the app claimed users would earn money for each advertisement watched, motivating him to register.
“I paid the registration fee of N5,500 on December 5. For me, the next thing was to start making money by watching ads, but instead, the app began to say there was an error with my payment,” shared Eke.
Frustrated by continuous error prompts, Eke contacted the app’s customer care on Telegram, seeking a solution to the inconvenience. However, his attempts were met with rudeness, with customer care asking if he was “not mad” before requesting screenshots of his complaint.
Despite reaching out to understand the issue, Eke received no clear solution. Moreover, he discovered that CashTube changed its receiving payment account details after he paid into their Wema Bank account.
“I need my funds back,” Eke emphasized.
Efforts to contact CashTube through its Telegram account were unsuccessful at press time.
Investigations suggest that CashTube, once a platform that may have paid users sporadically, no longer fulfills its promises and could be a scam. Despite having around five million downloads on the Google Play Store, the app’s overall rating of 2.9 and critical reviews indicate potential fraudulent activities.
