In February, Ibezim Joy encountered a phone vendor on Instagram named @kellyiyareapplestore__. After reviewing the vendor’s profile and deeming it trustworthy, she decided to contact him.
According to Joy, the vendor provided two payment options, and she chose the easy payment plan, which required an initial payment of 70% of the product’s price, with the remaining balance to be paid later. Joy reported that she made the initial deposit and subsequently completed the payment. The vendor had scheduled the delivery for the next day, but Joy did not receive any updates. When she followed up, the vendor apologized and promised delivery by noon the following day. Joy waited patiently until February 14, 2024, but she did not receive any call from the delivery person.
Despite multiple attempts to contact the vendor, Joy has not received her phone or a refund of ₦421,000. She stated that the scammers are still active and continue to deceive others.
