My friend’s WhatsApp was hacked, and the impersonator claimed he needed a quick 1M to send to someone because he was having bank issues. The amount wasn’t much, and I didn’t feel the need to call and confirm, as the person in question owns houses and hotels.
He came back to ask for an additional 1.5M, which I obliged because he seemed to be in a fix. I know some of you will say I should have confirmed, but I regularly send large amounts of money to people, and the person is quite wealthy.
It wasn’t until the third time, when he asked for 2.5M, that I became really suspicious. So, I called his wife to confirm, and she told me his WhatsApp had been hacked.
I have since requested a lien on both accounts. The country is really hard, and scammers are getting more and more creative. Be careful out there and keep a watchful eye on the people around you.
