The NHIRE scam has become a growing concern, preying on unsuspecting Nigerians and exploiting their hard-earned money with relentless deceit.
In August 2023, an individual encountered NHIRE, a seemingly enticing company offering remote work opportunities with a promise of a minimum monthly payment of N120,000 for 500,000 employees. Alarm bells rang immediately for the individual who recognized the scam.
Upon investigating the NHIRE website, they found that the initial registration fee for the first batch of “employees” was N3,700. However, this sum quickly escalated to N10,000 and later skyrocketed to N26,000 by the end of August. The individual inquired about the first promised salary of N120,000, and was told it would be paid by the end of August.
With bated breath, the individual awaited the month’s end, only to be informed that NHIRE had postponed the payment date to September 30th. Unconvinced, the individual confronted NHIRE, calling it out as a scam. Nevertheless, NHIRE persisted in its deception, pushing the payment date to October 30th. The NHIRE scammers are adept at moving the goalposts of payment, clearly demonstrating their lack of intention to pay anyone.
To compound their fraudulent activities, NHIRE recently launched a new program titled “Overtime Enrollment” with a registration fee of N50,000.
As the ember months approach, the public is urged to be extra cautious of scammers.
