In Ondo State, Nigeria, a 43-year-old pastor named Adebolu Olulusi has been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on charges of fraud. The arrest was made after allegations surfaced that the pastor had defrauded a church member, Taiwo Opesanmi, of N1.2 million.
According to reports, between 2019 and 2020, the suspect collected varying sums of money from Opesanmi, promising to use the funds to secure a job for her at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). However, after receiving the money, the pastor allegedly cut off all communication with the victim and could not be found at his residence located at No. 1, Ore Ofe, Irese Road, Akure, the state capital.
The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Command, Daniel Aidamenbor, revealed that Opesanmi had initially met the pastor at a prayer mountain in Ijoka, Akure. Aidamenbor further explained that, with the assistance of a commercial bank, the Counter Terrorism Unit of the NSCDC successfully tracked down and arrested the suspect following the acquisition of a court order.
During the investigation, another victim came forward accusing the pastor of selling her land with a fake deed of gift for N800,000. She had to pay an additional N1 million to the rightful owner of the land since she had already built a structure on it.
