In a strategic maneuver, Lagos State Police have apprehended two culprits involved in a string of robberies disguised as beggars amidst the city’s notorious traffic congestion. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police, disclosed that the arrests ensued promptly after a motorist alerted a nearby police patrol.
SP Hundeyin, speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, elaborated on how citizen vigilance coupled with police action led to the recovery of stolen items from the apprehended duo, who are now slated for legal proceedings.
In a parallel development, SP Hundeyin disclosed the arrest of a woman engaged in fraudulent activity targeting a Point of Sale (PoS) operator. The suspect attempted a transaction worth ₦90,000 using counterfeit ₦1,000 notes, arousing suspicion and prompt intervention from the vigilant PoS operator.
This arrest underscores the ongoing effort to combat financial fraud within the state, with the detained woman undergoing further investigation. These incidents emphasize the efficacy of collaborative efforts between the community and law enforcement agencies in tackling crime and upholding public safety in Lagos.
