In a distressing turn of events, a property developer residing in Ogun State has shared the unfortunate tale of how his friend and business partner, Surajudeen Abdulrahman, sold him a fake parcel of land for a staggering sum of N5 million in December 2023. This deceitful act was purportedly orchestrated by Abdulrahman to secure funds for his relocation to Canada.
Despite their four-year partnership, the developer, who preferred to remain anonymous, fell victim to Abdulrahman’s scheme due to his unwavering trust. The sale lacked the customary documentation, leaving the developer in a precarious situation.
Initially, the developer made two payments totaling N5 million, including a commission of N250,000, for two plots of land. However, Abdulrahman’s elusive behavior raised suspicions as he became unreachable, prompting concerns about his departure from the country.
Undeterred, the developer commenced construction on the land, only to encounter a rude awakening when confronted by individuals claiming ownership and erecting fences, citing a land theft caveat. Subsequent attempts to contact Abdulrahman proved futile, exacerbating the developer’s predicament.
Despite Abdulrahman’s promise of a refund by April 2024, the developer, burdened by mounting expenses and project commitments, refused to wait. Negotiations ensued, but Abdulrahman’s lack of remorse and failure to fulfill his commitment further strained their relationship.
Abdulrahman’s acknowledgment of the land sale and promise of a refund by April, citing his relocation preparations, offered little solace to the aggrieved developer. However, as of the latest update, Abdulrahman has made no effort to honor his promise, leaving the developer in financial turmoil.
