According to a message circulating on Facebook and Whatsapp in Nigeria, the Lagos state government is looking for teachers for primary and secondary school classes in public schools.
The message states that “the Government of Lagos State hereby invites applications for the following position,” and it goes on to list the 18 different subjects that the teachers will be teaching as well as the qualifications required. It then provides a link where teachers can apply.
The state government issued a warning on June 21, 2022, that the teachers’ recruitment application, which was also posted on blogs and in tweets, was fraudulent and not from the state teaching service commission.
“The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (Tescom) has disclaimed an online post requesting some categories of graduates to apply for Lagos State teaching jobs, claiming that the publication is the work of fraudulent-minded individuals,” according to the warning.
Olabisi Ariyo, the commission’s chairperson, signed the statement. He also stated that Tescom would always make any upcoming recruitment drives public.
