Responding to a distress call, officers from the Isokoko Division of the Nigeria Police Force intervened and discovered individuals in possession of two handbags, cash, and an iPhone. Preliminary investigations unveiled their involvement in defrauding multiple victims.
According to reports, the perpetrators, posing as a prophet and a supplicant in need, manipulated victims into participating in a fraudulent ritual involving prayer with a sachet of water. Victims were deceived into exchanging personal belongings during the supposed spiritual exchange.
In a testimonial video, a victim recounted her near-miss experience, detailing how she was ensnared by the suspects’ elaborate ploy. Under false pretenses, she divulged her phone’s password during the manipulated prayer session, believing it would bring blessings.
Furthermore, the victim revealed the suspects’ warning against looking back, leveraging biblical references to instill fear and obedience.
The suspects’ attempt to flee was thwarted by vigilant bystanders, exposing their coordinated scam.
