1) Augustine Ikechi Ugboaja with Opay Account number: 09037255520 and
2) Esther Mary Alade with Opay account number: 09169124932 are skilled scammers who are fully in the business of defrauding unsuspecting Opay users of their hard-earned money under the pretext of Opay agents who are helping Opay users upgrade their accounts.
This is how they operate:
Esther Mary Alade will call you with the following number: 09133783933. She will ask to know how you’re enjoying Opay’s services. She will offer to upgrade your account so you can enjoy more of Opay’s services. She will ask you to forward a couple of OTPs that she will initiate from her end to your registered line with Opay.
Once you forward the OTPs, she will transfer your money to Augustine Ikechi Ugboaja: 09037255520.
The first OTP will be used to reset your password.
The second OTP will be used to reset your transfer PIN.
And the third OTP will be used to reset your ATM PIN if your account is linked to an Opay card.
For the avoidance of doubt, Opay will NEVER ask for your password, transfer PIN, or any OTP sent to your line.
Once anyone requests any of these, they are a scammer.
If your default SIM PIN has not been changed, you risk losing all your funds on Opay in the event that your phone gets stolen.
This is because your SIM card can be used to reset your Opay password and change your PIN.
To avoid falling victim to fraud on Opay, you MUST LOCK YOUR SIM CARD.
The default PIN for your SIM is:
Every criminal knows this.
To lock your SIM CARD, use the default PIN for your line above to lock your SIM CARD then change it to a unique number between 4 to 8 digits.
You can do this by navigating to the SIM PIN section from settings.
Once the SIM lock is turned on, you will need to enter your PIN each time you remove your SIM card from your device or switch off and switch on your mobile phone.
In the event that you lose your SIM card or phone, no one will be able to reset your Opay password and PIN even if they remove your SIM card and insert it into another device.
This means your funds are safe because no one can:
*generate OTP in the SIM.
*Reset your PIN.
*Get to your loved ones through the contacts stored on your SIM card and Google.
*gain access to your bank accounts.
*Gain access to your personal info.
*Hack into your email, etc.
